Our collection of vintage military and heritage workwear-inspired shirts. Initially crafted from robust materials like cotton or denim, the first shirts were designed for work in the early industrial world and came in a pullover style. In the early part of the 20th century, the full length placket made shirts more flexible and easy to wear. Soon came standardisation and mass production, with companies like Levi Strauss popularising denim work shirts. The influence of military uniforms during World War II impacted work shirt designs, incorporating khaki and olive drab colors. Post-WWII, work shirts shifted towards casual wear, with chambray shirts becoming iconic. The 1950s-1960s brought Western-style shirts into vogue, marked by snap buttons and yokes. Throughout this evolution, synthetic fabrics emerged, enhancing durability. Work shirts became a canvas for branding, with logos prominently displayed. The journey from a utilitarian garment to a symbol of casual fashion reflects broader societal changes and the dynamic nature of work attire over the decades.
