The Rite Stuff Bulldog Wabash Work Shirt – Indigo

The Rite Stuff Bulldog Shirt is an exacting reproduction of a shirt that brand owner Bryan Shettig first saw worn by a workman in a 1920s postcard from his personal archive. The shirt is consistent with the 1920s when most shirts were still made as pullover shirts.

It is made from a selvedge discharge-dyed dot stripe Wabash fabric, milled in Japan, in both indigo and black sulphur dye in a versatile, year-round 5 oz weight. Both the indigo and sulphur fabrics used will fade with washing and wear so you can enjoy the unique ageing characteristics your garment takes on.

The Bulldog Work Shirt is cut roomy and full as a pullover needs to be in order to easily go on and off. The chest is generous, as are the sleeves, cuff, and the extra length ensures it stays tucked in, with no tails bobbing out when you put your arms up. Double-row chain stitching at principle seams means no tearing, a high, thin double back yoke, and a period-correct chinstrap and collar round out the shirt.

The Rite Stuff creates new takes on pre-World War II American workwear, with exceptional attention to detail and focus on quality and ethical production. Whereas most heritage clothing brands focus on the post-war years, The Rite Stuff owner, Bryan Shettig, takes his inspiration from the clothing worn by workers in the early part of the twentieth century.

Influenced by classic pieces of the time and an extensive vintage archive, the brand puts its passion for the history of heritage clothing into each piece they make. The result is tough, functional but incredibly beautiful clothing that is full of period-correct details and that looks just as good today as it would have a century ago.

Authentic, Japanese-milled fabrics and deadstock materials, combined with a production process that closely resembles that of a century ago, means that each piece The Rite Stuff makes is built to last.

Production is overseen in the finest Japanese facilities by John Lofgren & Co., resulting in heritage workwear of unsurpassed authenticity and quality.

The Rite Stuff Bantam Shirt is tough and durable so doesn’t need any specific care. It has been washed once so expect very little or no further shrinkage. Wash when needed on 30 degrees.
