The Alberton Japan All Weather Mountain Parka is a collaboration with Gypsy & Son and uses a combination of nostalgia and high-performance materials to create the perfect outdoor jacket. It is based on jackets worn by pre-war mountain troops and comes fully lined with three front pockets. This anorak style jacket is waterproof, breathable and even flame retardant. The Army Duck Nylon fabric, developed specifically by the brand, has significant advantages over synthetic technical fabrics. One of the joys of camping is the campfire and Alberton wanted to create a fabric that self-extinguishes in the unlikely event it catches fire. Not only is the jacket fantastic at repelling water, it is also highly breathable meaning that it is good for a full day of trekking or a day in the city. It is finished with a contrast zip toggle, hood and internal dual branding.

Alberton was a large-scale spinning company that existed in Baltimore, Maryland from the end of the 19th century to the early 20th. It was named after the founder’s son, Albert, who established duck cotton as the company’s main product. Duck cotton is known for its high density, warmth and water repellant properties. Because of this, the US government was a major customer, giving rise to the iconic US Army Duck, which was first used in World War I and is still used today. The great depression struck, Alberton was acquired and the name was lost to history until 2016 when the brand was resurrected in Japan. Using archival material and vintage pieces, the original US Army Duck has been painstakingly recreated using the exact same materials and processes as were used a century ago. This jacket is waterproof and flameproof. There are no specific care instructions but we recommend allowing the jacket to dry before hanging.
