Papa Nui Hellcat Cap – Frogskin Camo

£80.67

The Papa Nui Hellcat Cap is ten years in the making. Its origin is the first cap Papa Nui ever did with John Lofgren in Japan, the Corsair Cap. Over a decade has been spent refining the silhouette, subtle changes made from a hundred small observations, and now we have the Hell Cat Cap. Built for the fight to hades and back and tough enough to withstand the netherworld of battle on the campaign trail, the Hell Cat is realised in WWII USMC Frogskin Camouflage. The Hell Cat is deep and balanced through crown so as not to create a pinch at the top. The visor is 8cm or long, wide and square and takes its shape directly from period USN caps. A millinery version of its tough and rugged namesake the F6F, and is set to be the dominant cap covering the skies over the Atoll.

  • Papa Nui’s recreation of the F6F Cap

Brand

Papa Nui Cap Co. is the creation of John Tesoriero and draws on decades of experience in the heritage clothing industry, along with an enviable collection of vintage clothing and militaria.

The brand creates caps with vintage military, utility and surf influences, inspired by the resourcefulness of GIs and their ability to reimagine and repurpose their kit to suit their environment. Much more than simply a reproduction brand, each Papa Nui cap has a story behind it.

The finest military-spec materials are sourced from Japan and each cap is battle-tested under the rays of the South Pacific sun. Manufacturing is left to the capable hands of John Lofgren & Co., who ensure the finished products are made to the highest standards of quality and ethics, resulting in a cap that will last a lifetime and only look better with age.

Papa Nui Cap Co. was our first brand at Those That Know and we stock every release, including many pieces that are not available anywhere else. As John himself says, “anything else is just a cap”.

Care

Papa Nui caps are low-maintenance pieces designed for rugged wear. This cap can be soaked or machine washed as required.
