USARP Bandanna – Operation Deep Freeze

The USARP Bandanna pays tribute to the United States Antarctic Research Project through the format of a mid-century souvenir kerchief. Its layout takes cues from rare American state-map bandannas, with a chart of Antarctica forming the central structure.
Heavy ice formations and drifting pack ice occupy the corners, while an explorer-scientist and penguin sit at the centre. Drawn by Satoshi Kaga, the graphic treatment references 1950s industrial and workwear bandannas.
