About the Loop & Weft Twill Face Crewneck
The Loop & Weft Twill Face Crewneck is constructed from a bespoke Twill Face cotton developed especially for Loop & Weft’s AW20 collection. The fabric was designed to reimagine a classic denim weave into a cloth that is strong, substantial but soft enough to be worn as a t-shirt. This manufacturing process takes place at carefully selected workshops in Wakayama, Japan, by shokunin, or artisans, who are masters of their craft. To contrast with the custom cloth, the piece is sewn on vintage Union Special 36200 machines with four-needle flat seam construction. These machines are increasingly rare and many were imported from the USA during the early part of the 20th century.
The pattern is inspired by vintage Swedish Army Undershirts, with a standard, slightly slim fit and the garment’s set-in sleeve and yoke result in exceptional comfort. Flexible enough to be worn on its own or layered under a shirt or jacket as part of a setup for cold weather, it will quickly become your favourite go-to pieces of knitwear.

Loop & Weft was founded in 2011 by Ryota Seguchi, who had spent the previous decade working in the denim industry for one of Japan’s leading denim manufacturers. Ryota’s goal was to produce honestly-crafted pieces made from the best materials to the very highest standards.
The brand is based in Yamanashi Prefecture, a location in the shadow of Mount Fuji that is known for its natural beauty and for being an inspiring artistic setting for creative people. The area also has a historically significant garment manufacturing industry that is particularly known for cut-and-sewn cotton clothing. Loop & Weft aim to continue these strong traditions and contribute to the history of the area by creating beautiful, life-long lasting pieces that will fast become the prized possessions of their owners.
The garment has been rinsed so expect no further shrinkage. When necessary, wash by hand or on a gentle 30-degree cycle.
