The Loop & Weft Loopwheeled Shoulder Taped Crew is a short sleeve tee made in Japan from Wakayama loopwheel jersey, one of the most highly regarded knitted fabrics in the world.
The fabric is knitted slowly on vintage loopwheel machines, introduced to Japan in the early 1900s and now found in working condition in only very small numbers. These machines produce fabric at a fraction of the speed of modern knitting machines, allowing the cotton yarn to be knitted without tension. The result is a dense, substantial 100% cotton jersey with a soft handle, natural stretch, and the kind of durability that improves with wear.
The shape takes reference from early military T-shirts, with a solid crew neck, regular fit, and enough room through the body and sleeves to work equally well on its own or as a base layer. The collar uses a jacquard knitted vintage-style neck rib, while the shoulders are reinforced with binder taping to help prevent stretching over time.
Finished with four-needle flat seam construction and narrow twin-needle stitching, the tee has a clean, low-profile feel against the skin. A simple piece, but one with a considerable amount of work behind it.

Typical of Loop & Weft’s sizing, the tee is a relatively trim fit. For a looser, more comfortable fit we recommend sizing up by one. If you own other Loop & Weft t-shirts, choose your normal size. Compare the measurements below with a t-shirt you own to get the perfect fit.

This garment fits small, we recommend sizing up.
For more information on shipping, we have a dedicated shipping page. We use Royal Mail for most orders but occasionally UPS, FedEx and DHL for higher value international orders. Shipping starts at £6 in the UK and £15 international and increases based on location and, for larger orders, weight.
