The Papa Nui Sub Hunter Cap came about after a request to the Papa from Ernest Hemingway. The story goes that in 1943 Hemingway needed a cap perfectly suited for chasing U-Boats in the Gulf Stream. He contacted the Papa with his requirements and the Sub Hunter Cap was born. Naturally, Ernest loved his Sub Hunter, so it has been perfectly reproduced to the Papa’s exacting standards. The Sub Hunter is constructed from a rugged Khaki Herringbone Twill with a contrasting brown Canvas brim. As hard-wearing as it is handsome, the Sub Hunter Cap will age beautifully over time.

Papa Nui size guide

Watch caps and other special models come in one size. Because of the materials used, these will work for you if either Medium and Large size Papa Nui caps fit you comfortably.

For more information on shipping, we have a dedicated shipping page. We use Royal Mail for most orders but occasionally UPS, FedEx and DHL for higher value international orders. Shipping starts at £6 in the UK and £15 international and increases based on location and, for larger orders, weight.
Please be aware that we’re a two person operation so there may be a day or two between ordering and shipping. If you need something urgently, please contact us and we’ll probably be able to sort it.
We offer an easy returns process which is explained in detail on our returns page. All we ask is that returned items arrive back with us in as-new condition including labels and packaging. Unless we’ve made a mistake, we can’t refund or exchange socks, magazines or books.
