The Alberton Japan Tote Bag is made from a US Army Duck Cotton fabric woven with the phantom shuttle loom. This rare loom is the only one in the world that faithfully reproduces the fabric that was used to transport coal in American coal mines in the early 20th century. The fabric is significantly stronger than the modern No.4 Canvas, meaning that no treatment or resistance is required. Strong and durable, the tote can stand up on its own, will keep the weather out and your belongings safe.

Alberton Japan revives a lost American textile legend. Once a major spinning company in Baltimore, Alberton built its name on durable duck cotton, a tightly woven, water-repellent fabric first used by the US Army in World War I. More than a century later, the brand has been faithfully reborn in Japan and its iconic fabric is recreated using the same traditional methods for a modern audience.
