Lightning Archives Suka Jacket documents the history of the jackets made in Japan for American soldiers stationed after WWII. Sukajan had a baseball jacket-type body familiar to Americans with oriental embroidery of eagles, tigers, dragons, which was was done with a traditional horizontal swinging sewing machine used for Japanese clothing. These one-of-a-kind jackets flourished between the late 1940s and 1960s and today are much sought after by vintage collectors. Lighting’s book is a comprehensive collection of the finest pieces from the world’s best collections.
