Story of The Two Ears Brand Liberty Bandanna
The Two Ears Brand Liberty Bandanna is made and printed in Japan and comes in an Iridium black colour with a transitional printed pattern.
As with all the bandannas The Two Ears Brand made, the Liberty is a faithful reproduction of an original design. This bandanna dates from the 1890s to early 1900s and the pattern was integrated into many campaign bandannas. The design is a good example of ephemeral bandannas during this era, which used a lot of dots, diamonds, and stripes. This was a pivotal design change in American bandannas from ornate to simple, and set the trend for the design of bandannas for the 1930s and after.
Brand Director, Jonathan Lukacek searched extensively for a black bandanna from the turn of the 20th century, eventually coming upon this example. Each design is reproduced as accurately as possible both in pattern and colour and are hand-printed in Japan.
Each bandanna is finished with subtle Two Ears branding and a colour-fast logo and comes in an eye-catching display packaging featuring Two Ears branding. The approximate size is 50cm x 50cm and a small amount of shrinking after washing will occur.

The Two Ears Brand produces the highest quality selvedge bandannas based on original pieces from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Founded by Osaka-based designer, stylist and fashion archivist Jonathan Lukacek, each bandanna in the collection is made in Japan from bespoke, custom-milled fabrics.
The label came about when Jonathan found a prototype of a late-1800s bandanna that never got made. He fantasised about creating a reproduction using the highest quality fabric and manufacturing processes available for almost a decade until finding a mill with the capability to accurately reproduce the original fabric.
A partnership with high-end denim brand Ooe Yofukuten formed The Two Ears brand, a play on the Japanese word for selvedge. Those That Know are excited to be one of the few retailers worldwide to carry what has been called “the Hermès of bandannas”. Because of the work and cost that goes into producing each bandanna, numbers are very limited.
The bandanna is approximately 50cm x 50cm in size.
The bandanna is colour-fast and can be washed. A small amount of shrinkage can be expected, so we recommend washing cold by hand or by machine on its lowest temperature setting. Do not tumble dry.
