About the Loop & Weft Vintage Jacquard Knit Crewneck Sweatshirt
The Loop & Weft Vintage Jacquard Knit Crewneck Sweatshirt sees the brand once again develop a bespoke fabric specifically for use in this model. The jacquard knit cloth is created by customising a vintage French Terry knitting machine, of which there are only two in Japan. Because of the rarity of these machines and the scarcity of people who can operate them, Loop & Weft entrusted the knitting of the fabric to a handful of skilled shokunin or artisans. The result is a truly one of a kind fabric and a sweatshirt that, like all of Loop & Weft’s products, elevates knitwear to the highest possible level.
The pattern is based on classic American military and athletic sweatshirts from the middle part of the 20th century with a slightly adjusted fit for the contemporary wardrobe. Contrasting the old with the new, the custom-made fabric is sewn on vintage Union Special 36200 machines, many of which were imported from the USA during the early part of the 20th century.

Loop & Weft was founded in 2011 by Ryota Seguchi, who had spent the previous decade working in the denim industry for one of Japan’s leading denim manufacturers. Ryota’s goal was to produce honestly-crafted pieces made from the best materials to the very highest standards.
The brand is based in Yamanashi Prefecture, a location in the shadow of Mount Fuji that is known for its natural beauty and for being an inspiring artistic setting for creative people. The area also has a historically significant garment manufacturing industry that is particularly known for cut-and-sewn cotton clothing. Loop & Weft aim to continue these strong traditions and contribute to the history of the area by creating beautiful, life-long lasting pieces that will fast become the prized possessions of their owners.
The garment has been washed so expect no further shrinkage. When necessary, wash by hand or on a gentle 30 degree cycle.
