A hardwearing, durable fabric, canvas is known for its use in products where strength and stability is essential. Best known in military use in backpacks and equipment bags, it is usually made from cotton or linen. Canvas differs from fabrics such as denim in the way it is woven, featuring a plain weave rather than Twill weave. Two types of cloth exist, plain or Duck. The phrase Duck comes from the Dutch word for cloth “doek” and is woven tighter than the standard cloth.
