Girard Studio Cards
Alexander Girard was born in 1907 in New York and became one of the most important figures in American post-war design, along with his friends and colleagues, Charles & Ray Eames and George Nelson.
As head of design at the Herman Miller Company, Girard was known for his textile patterns and products that reflected his love of festive colours and textures. His work is easily identifiable through it’s abstract geometric forms and bright, cheerful colour palette.
This iconic work remains popular and many of the upholstery textiles Girard created are still sold today.
Although best known for his textiles, Girard was also admired for his work in graphics and Girard Studio was created to preserve and promote his design legacy and archive. The growing range of greeting cards produced by Vitra in collaboration with Eames office showcase some of this.
Those That Know are stocking a selection of cards from the range and they’re up on the website and available to buy now.
The cards are blind embossed and foil stamped onto card. The quality of the stock and printing methods really bring Girard’s designs to life and result in a crisp, bold finish.
More than just greeting cards, these are art pieces. When framed and hung, they really bring a wall to life. Perfect for adding a vibrant touch to a room. If you do want to send them as greeting cards, however, an envelope is included.
There’s five different designs available to buy on Those That Know that can be used for a range of occasions. Head over to the Girard Studio section of the website now to see the cards for yourself.
